Longitudinal Inter-Departmental Business Register, UK

A longitudinal version, for turnover and employee data only, of the Inter-Departmental Business Register (IDBR) database.

The Longitudinal Inter-Departmental Business Register (LIDBR) is a longitudinal version, for turnover and employee data only, of the Office for National Statistics (ONS) owned Inter-Departmental Business Register (IDBR) and Business Structure Database (BSD) database.

Data on the LIDBR allows assessment of changes in turnover and employee data in individual businesses by providing good quality time series data. Each edition consists of two tables. One contains annual turnover data for all IDBR enterprises from 2006 onwards, with reporting lags removed. The other is similar but contains employee data. Each table contains around 80 million rows. The data can be linked back to the IDBR and BSD to obtain other data, such as addresses, using the entref variable.

The original LIDBR covered 2006 to 2016. The latest covers 2006 to 2018. Data is not overwritten, with older versions of the database kept for reference purposes (as lags in data mean that even when datasets cover the same period, the older data may have been updated). At present there are no plans to produce updated versions of the database covering the period from 2018 onwards.

All data hosted on the Integrated Data Service (IDS) are de-identified.
