Monthly Business Survey, UK

Collects retail turnover, total turnover, total import and export turnover, value of output.

The Monthly Business Survey (MBS) collects turnover, new orders and employment information from UK businesses in production industries, and Great Britain businesses in services industries.

Monthly turnover results give an early indication of what is happening in the economy and contribute to a number of important economic measures, including the:

  • output measure of gross domestic product (GDP(O))
  • Index of Production (IoP)
  • Index of Services (IoS)

The survey replaces other business surveys, Monthly Inquiry into the Distributive and Services Sector (MIDSS) and Monthly Production Inquiry (MPI).

All data hosted on the Integrated Data Service (IDS) are de-identified.
