Nursing and Midwifery Council Register linked to Census 2021

A linked dataset containing information from the 2021 Census for those registered on the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register in England and Wales only.

The 2021 Census of England and Wales is the largest national survey undertaken by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) every 10 years. The total population in 2021 was 59,597,542 (56,490,048 in England and 3,107,494 in Wales).

The census provides information on demographics, households that government needs to develop policies, plan and run public services, and allocate funding.

The data are linked to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Register data, which are a snapshot of the registered nurses, midwives and nursing associates on the NMC Register each year as of 31 March. The NMC creates these snapshots on an annual basis to report on the changes of professionals on its register.

This dataset includes all attribute variables with no identifiable variables. Researchers must select the NMC data within their project request to view attributes within the NMC register.

All data hosted on the Integrated Data Service (IDS) are de-identified.
