Quarterly Acquisition and Disposal of Capital Assets Survey

Previously known as the Quarterly Capital Expenditure Survey, UK (from 1998 to 2014). Collects quarterly information on value of capital assets purchased by UK businesses.

This dataset was known as the Quarterly Capital Expenditure Survey, UK from 1 January 1998 until 31 December 2014. The Quarterly Acquisitions and Disposals of Capital Assets Survey (QCAS) collects quarterly information on the value of capital assets bought and sold by businesses in the UK within the private sector, including not-for-profit institutions.

This includes the acquisitions and disposals of:

  • vehicles
  • other capital equipment
  • computer hardware, software and databases
  • intellectual property

It also includes acquisitions only of new building work (excluding dwellings), or other (construction) work of a capital nature.

Exploration expenditure is collected for Standard Industrial Classification 2007 (SIC2007) 0600 only.

All data hosted on the Integrated Data Service (IDS) are de-identified.
