News : Important update on Integrated Data Service
On Thursday 26 June ONS published two detailed plans for improving the quality of our core statistics, which we recognise have not met users’ needs recently. Implementing these plans will require prioritisation and reassignment of skilled resource.
The IDP has delivered a secure, cloud-based environment with infrastructure capable of linking complex datasets, including census, health, employment, and education data. Tools such as the Reference Data Management Framework (RDMF) have been delivered to provide a secure indexing infrastructure and support data curation and analysis.
This data linking technology will now be focused on analysis that supports ONS priorities. We are working through what that means for IDS analytical projects – whether live and on the platform, pipelined or prospective projects. As soon as we have a clear view on this, we will contact our external stakeholders, partners and colleagues.
While we are focused on the wider ONS prioritisation work, we are no longer accepting applications for external research and have paused discussions related to data sharing specific to the IDS.
Please note that the Secure Research Service (opens in a new tab) will remain open, continuing to provide accredited researchers with access to data.
