How to access : Sign in to the Integrated Data Service (IDS) Hub

Overview

When your Integrated Data Service (IDS) account is approved, we will send your username and a temporary password in a welcome email. You will need to reset this password within 24 hours, if you miss this window, find out how to reset your password

Before you start

When accessing IDS for the first time you will need:

  • your welcome email with your sign-in details
  • access to a mobile device that can provide two-step verification
  • to set up two-step verification

You can then sign in to the IDS Hub (opens in a new tab)

Activate two-step verification

The IDS uses Google's two-step verification process for additional security, this is a step used after you enter your password to verify your identity.

After receiving your welcome email, wait one hour, then sign in to your IDS Google account to activate it. You cannot access IDS without it.

You should activate two-step verification within 24 hours of receiving your welcome email. If you miss this window, email Accredited.Researcher.Support@ons.gov.uk (opens in a new tab)

When you receive your email, follow these steps.

  1. On your phone, download either the Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iPhone).
  2. On your computer, use your IDS Google email and temporary password to sign in to your Google account (opens in a new tab)
  3. You will be asked to change your password. For new accounts, there will be a “Welcome” page, select continue and set a new password.
  4. There will then be a “Don’t get locked out” page, select “Enrol” and enter your new password again if asked.
  5. Under the “Second steps” heading, select “Authenticator” (for existing accounts, select “Authenticator” on your account page (opens in a new tab) ).
  6. In the “Authenticator app” screen, select “Set up authenticator”. This will generate a QR code.
  7. On your phone, open either the Google or Microsoft Authenticator app. Select the plus (+) icon to add a new account, then use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code on screen. Select “Next”.
  8. Your Google account will now show on your authenticator app a six-digit code that changes frequently. Enter the latest code into the screen to finish setting up two-step verification.
  9. Select "Turn on two-step verification”.
  10. On the next screen, select “Turn on two-step verification”. Your account is now protected by two-step verification.

How to reset your password

If you forget your password or need to reset it, do not use the forgotten password link on the IDS sign in page. For a new password, email Accredited.Researcher.Support@ons.gov.uk (opens in a new tab)
