Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) de-identified with travel to work areas.
The Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) collects data on the earnings and hours worked by employees in both public and private sectors in the UK. It does not include the self-employed or members of the armed forces.
Data are collected through surveys and administrative data from a wide range of industries and occupations, providing a representative sample of the workforce. It uses a stratified random sampling approach to ensure that the data represent various demographic groups and industries.
Variables include information on:
- gross weekly earnings, including basic pay, overtime, bonuses, and other additional payments
- average number of hours worked per week by employees
The data geography levels include different regions and countries within the UK, allowing for the analysis of regional variations in earnings and hours worked.
This dataset represents published information from 1997 to 2020 and has had geography variables added for postcode through to local authority area, region, output area, Census 2011 geography and travel to work areas. It has been designed for His Majesty’s Treasury Levelling Up analytical project.
For disclosure control, records have been suppressed where there were fewer than three respondents.
All data hosted on the Integrated Data Service (IDS) are de-identified.
