The Annual Business Inquiry (ABI) was conducted in two parts: employment and financial information.
This release deals with the financial inquiry which collects information for about two thirds of the UK economy, covering:
- production
- construction
- motor trade
- wholesale
- retail
- catering
- allied trade
- property
- service trades
From the 2000 inquiry agriculture (part):
- hunting
- forestry
- fishing.
The financial variables covered:
- turnover
- purchases
- employment costs
- capital expenditure
- stocks
Approximate grossed (GVA) is calculated as an input into the measurement of gross domestic product (GDP). The survey is replaced by the Annual Business Survey (ABS).
