Claimant Count by sex and age for Lower layer Super Output Area

Extract of claimant count gender and age for Lower layer Super Output Area (LSOA) from 2013 to 2023 NOMIS open dataset.

This extract counts the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA), plus those who claim Universal Credit and are required to seek and be available for work. A headline indicator of the number of people claiming benefits principally for the reason of being unemployed.

The Claimant Count is the stock of these claimants broken down by sex, age and type of benefit being claimed. Claimant Count proportions are available but not when the figures are not broken down by age.

This data is specific to England and Wales and has a lowest level of geography of Lower layer Super Output Area 2011 (LSOA) for the years 2013 to 2023.

All data hosted on the Integrated Data Service (IDS) are de-identified.
