General Lifestyle Survey, Great Britain

A multipurpose continuous survey by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The survey presents a picture of families and people living in private households in Great Britain.

The survey was carried out up to 2011 when it was discontinued. The main topics of the survey are covered in seven chapters:

  • smoking
  • drinking
  • households, families, and people
  • housing and consumer durables
  • marriage and cohabitation
  • pensions
  • general health

The General Lifestyle Survey was previously known as the General Household Survey (GHS), but was renamed in 2008.

All data hosted on the Integrated Data Service (IDS) are de-identified.
