International Passenger Survey

Data collected by the International Passenger Survey (IPS). The data relate to international travel and tourism, including visitor numbers by country per residence, amounts spend, and reasons for visit.

The International Passenger Survey (IPS) is a statistical survey conducted by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The primary aim of this survey is to collect information from passengers entering and leaving the UK, covering various aspects such as the purpose of their visit, their expenditure, and demographic details.

Typically conducted at major sea and air ports as well through the Channel Tunnel, the survey gathers information through face-to-face interviews with a sample of passengers.

The data is then weighted and extrapolated to represent the total number of journeys made over a specific time period.

All data hosted on the Integrated Data Service (IDS) are de-identified.
