About the Integrated Data Service (IDS) : Benefits of the Integrated Data Service (IDS)

The Integrated Data Service (IDS) supports the government’s ambitions to:

  • make public services more efficient and effective
  • increase economic productivity
  • improve the public's wellbeing and security

It does this by changing the way that de-identified data about our society and economy are linked and made available for vital research in the UK. By linking data, we can provide valuable new insights to support decision-making in government.

The IDS is enabling better outcomes for improving the lives of the public by:

  • providing access to data, indexed, and linked, to improve the quality and granularity of results which are being used to improve decision-making and policy outcomes
  • creating integrated data products, that link national data assets, to draw out new insights across thematical analysis for businesses, people, and households
  • leading efficiency across government from automations to streamlining services, reducing the time spent producing analytical outcomes
  • encouraging greater collaboration across government and academia, for improved public policy outcomes
